The Iron Duke

by Meljean Brook

I do appreciate the characters, especially Mina. She possesses all the good qualities I'm looking for in a heroine, sensibility, morality, dignity and intelligence. Most importantly she's tormented, but not whiny. The Iron Duke himself is as fascinating. Their relationship is very intense and steamy. Every ingredient is all there, except my emotion. I like the book, just don't love it. The style is too sparse to grip me and not let go. One moment I was at the edge of my seat thinking 'Wow, best book I've read in years'. Another moment I was inventing a new pumpkin pie recipe in my head.

4/5

Read it for yourself.
