I had a hard time grading this book. It starts out interesting. The dynamic in the first interaction between Nate and Rachael made me intrigued. I told myself, now that's new, a hero that's cool and not so into the heroine. Then a few pages later he just took a personality u-turn. Not just Nate actually. Many characters in this book are not so consistent. Sexual orientation-wise, and faith-wise. The way the followers turned on the bethren at the end seems too convenient, considering they were portrayed as almost brainwashed throughout the book.
That being said, I'll buy Brenda Novak's next book when it comes out. Despite many flaws, I like her voice. She writes good dialogues and apparently does quite a research.
