This book starts out with a bang, but unfortunately ends with a fizzle. The story revolves around the mysterious disappearance of the heroine's mother fifteen years ago. After some fifty or so pages, we already know what happened on that front, some can even have a good guess who did it. Or at least you have a fifty-fifty chance of guessing the real villain. What kept me around was why. And the answer leaves me disappointed. On the romance aspect, we have a heroine who pines for the hero, and vice versa. The conflict is there, but it, likewise, is resolved too fast. The hero who is supposed to be a bad bad boy is reduced into a puddle after a couple of kisses. When I first read the excerpt of this book, I was really excited. I expected another Killer Heat. There are so many potentials on this book, but the author somehow squanders them all. It is still a good read, just not that great.
