Although this book, compared to the Spymaster's Lady (which I believe is
the author's best), is not quite as explosive in term of sexual
intensity, but it is more mature and much warmer. I do believe a year
from now I would still be able to remember this book quite vividly while
I couldn't recall much of the Spymaster's Lady now except for the
bathtub scene. While giving it 5 stars, I didn't find it no fault. While
the budding of romance is excellently and credibly told, the
twelve-year period the couple are estranged is scarcely mentioned like
an afterthought which makes the reunion not as fulfilling or as
rewarding as it should have been. But when compared to other books I
rated four stars, Black Hawk to me is superior in every way so it would
be injustice to give it any less.
5/5
