To begin with, I'm not a fan of HP, but this book totally surprises me, or maybe it's Kelly Hunter ( I'll find out later after buying all books in her backlist). The pacing is done very well because the conflict is not gimmicky, and is handled with firm touch, -- realistically and not too melodramatically. I particularly like the setdown the daughters deliver to their mothers (on seperate occasions) near the end of the book, because IMO parents should put their offsprings' well being first and foremost and these two don't, and something has to be said about it. A wonderful read.
